This workshop will focus on the spiritual side of marriage and how our vertical relationship with God connects to our horizontal relationship with our spouse.

The loving bond between us and our spouse mirrors the love relationship which God desires to have with each of His beloved children.  What can we learn from our vertical relationship with God that will help us draw closer to our husband or wife?  How can we draw upon the strength and safety of God’s love to help us sacrifice for our spouse’s needs? . . . remaining open, safe, and engaged with them as we navigate differences and conflict?

Drawing upon both Biblical wisdom and recent research on healthy relationships, this workshop will offer helpful insights on understanding ourselves in relation to God, remaining vulnerable, and communicating in healthy ways.  Generous time will be provided for discussion and practical exercises exploring ways to grow closer while supporting our spouse in growing into the person they were created to be.

Mark and Petra have learned from each other’s differences through 30 years of marriage and parenting. An engineer and a teacher by profession, they together studied at Regent College and, for 17 years, served as the Pastoral Team of Marineview Chapel in Vancouver. Mark and Petra love walking with couples to help them notice where and how God is at work in their marriages. They are now full-time professional Coaches and Spiritual Directors to leaders in the Business World and Ministry. They have two married daughters and a couple of grandchildren. They enjoy boating on the West Coast and love traveling internationally to offer workshops like this.
